Requirements

• PhD degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience, neuroinformatics, biology, psychology, physics, or a related field,
• Strong MATLAB and/or Python programming skills are essential,
• Experience in machine learning (shallow and deep algorithms) and feature selection is a strong plus,
• Experience in EEG analysis is a strong plus,
• Knowledge of lower-level programming languages (for algorithm deployment) is an advantage,
• Knowledge of neuropsychiatric diseases, their causes, and treatments is an advantage,
• Exceptional motivation for scientific research, demonstrated through publications and references from the candidate’s thesis supervisor.

Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Mind is looking for a Postdoc!

The Laboratory of Neurophysiology of Mind is a young and dynamically growing research group at the Nencki Institute in Warsaw. We are interested in the relationship between the brain’s bioelectrical activity and the mind. Among other approaches, we use a unique methodology of recording the activity of single neurons in humans, combined with advanced analytical techniques (link).

Additionally, we have assembled a large clinical EEG database containing over 35,000 recordings — a unique resource worldwide that provides an opportunity to develop generalizable prediction algorithms.

We are currently looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work with this database and develop algorithms for clinical diagnosis and outcome prediction.

Scope of tasks

• Developing machine learning algorithms for neuropsychiatric disease classification and treatment prediction (signal preprocessing, feature selection, model development and deployment),
• Acquisition of new EEG data (if necessary),
• Manuscript preparation,
• Supervision of PhD students.
