Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the Laboratory of Cellular Genomics

The Laboratory of Cellular Genomics at the International Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB) in Warsaw, headed by Dr Aleksandra Kołodziejczyk, seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project that studies molecular mechanisms behind liver fibrosis and the role of the microbiome in profibrotic processes. The work is funded by the OPUS grant of the National Science Centre, Poland (project: “Finding molecular mechanisms behind the activation of stellate cells”).

Application deadline: 30th November 2025. Proposed start date: 1st January 2026 (flexible).

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi‑omic analyses of fibrotic processes in the host, focusing on liver stellate cells and microbiota impact.
  • Conduct laboratory work, including cell culture, reporter line generation, lentiviral transductions, cell sorting, and preparation of sequencing libraries (RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, CUT&Tag).
  • Analyze sequencing data using bioinformatics approaches (RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq, ChIP‑seq, metagenomics).
  • Collaborate with the research group and contribute to data interpretation and manuscript preparation.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Medicine, or equivalent (other fields considered if relevant experience).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • High motivation, proactive and collaborative attitude.
  • Fulfil formal criteria outlined in paragraph 2, point 2.1.1 of the NCN regulations.

Selection Criteria

  • Education, technical competencies, and experience aligned with the position requirements.
  • Scientific achievements – publications, awards, grants, training.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Soft skills – motivation, communication, teamwork, fit to group, compatibility with personal development goals.

Preferred Experience

  • Cell culture, reporter line generation, primary cell work, lentiviral transduction.
  • Cell sorting.
  • Sequencing library preparation for Illumina (RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq, CUT&Tag).
  • Bioinformatics analysis of sequencing data (RNA‑seq, ATAC‑seq, ChIP‑seq, metagenomics).

  • Full employment contract for 6 months, extendable up to 36 months.
