Offer Description

Postdoctoral position within the project “Advancing entanglement catalysis: Foundations and applications in quantum information science” (OPUS, NCN, UMO-2024/55/B/ST2/01590) is available at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. Successful candidates will work within the team led by Prof. Alexander Streltsov on applications of quantum catalysis in entanglement and general quantum resource theories. Possible research directions are investigation of catalytic effects in quantum communication and computation protocols, and the study of entanglement catalysis in multipartite systems.

The candidate will be offered possibilities to collaborate with other theoretical and experimental groups within Warsaw’s research community.

Skills/Qualifications

Profile of the candidates:

Postdoc candidates should have a PhD degree in engineering, physics or related area. Candidates are expected to have strong expertise on one of the following topics (proven by publications and/or preprints):

  • Quantum resource theories (e.g. quantum entanglement, quantum thermodynamics)
  • Catalysis of entanglement and/or general quantum resource theories
  • Quantification and characterization of multipartite entanglement

Key responsibilities of the candidate:

  • Performing research on the problems described above
  • Preparation and dissemination of the research results at international workshops and conferences

Conditions for a person applying for a post-doc position must meet the following conditions:

  1. Obtained a doctoral degree within 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project.
  2. The project manager was not the supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of applicant’s doctoral dissertation.
  3. Obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the entity where employment in this position is planned, or completed at least a 10‑month, continuous and documented postdoctoral internship in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country of obtaining the doctoral degree.
  4. Will be employed for a period of not less than 6 months.
  5. During the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under NCN calls.
  6. During the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive remuneration from another employer under an employment contract, including from an employer based outside the territory of Poland.
  7. During the period of receiving this remuneration, will not receive retirement benefits from the social security system.

  • Copy of PhD certificate or a document confirming that the candidate will obtain the PhD degree prior to the date of employment in the project,
