Offer Description

The aim of the competition is to select a post-doc researcher who will be involved in research within the SONATA 19 project: “Functional composites based on MULTIcomponent Portland cements modified with carbon-based nanomaterials: composition design, characterization of microstructure and properties (MULTIPHASE)”, agreement no. UMO-2023/51/D/ST11/00440, financed by the National Science Centre.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • synthesis and functionalization of carbon-based nanomaterials
  • Morphology and composition characterization of carbon-based nanomaterials
  • preparation and investigation of the dispersion of carbon-based nanomaterials
  • microstructural characterization of cement composites
  • analysis of the results and preparation of scientific publications

Skills/Qualifications

The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

  • PhD degree in chemistry or a related field, obtained in an entity other than UAM, not earlier 7 years before submitting the application;
  • The project manager was not the promoter or assistant promoter of the dissertation;
  • Doctoral degree obtained at an entity other than UAM or completed at least 10 months of continuous and documented postdoctoral training at an entity other than UAM and in a country other than the country in which the doctoral degree was obtained;
  • Knowledge of materials engineering and nanotechnology;
  • Authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in chemistry and materials engineering;
  • Presentations at Polish and foreign scientific conferences.

Additional strengths will be:

  • Internship in a scientific unit or industry.
  • Ability to work in a team, self-reliance, creativity, motivation;
  • Experience as a contractor in research projects

Specific Requirements

  • Diplomas or certificates issued by colleges and universities attesting to education and degrees or titles held (in case of academic degrees obtained abroad - the documents must meet the equivalence criteria set out in Article 328 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742 Polish: Dziennik Ustaw 2024 poz. 1571 t.j.);
  • Information on the Applicant’s research, teaching and organizational achievements,

Eligibility criteria

  1. Scientific achievements documented by publications in the field of research topics specified in the competition requirements (0-20 points);
  2. Completed scientific internships, participation in conferences, scientific seminars, workshops, trainings (0-10 points);
  3. Participation in research projects (0-5 points).

Selection process

  • Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
  • Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
  • Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
  • Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
  • Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
  • The committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation.
