• You define the API architecture strategy (REST, gRPC, GraphQL), including versioning, security (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC), monitoring, and SLAs.
• You create style guides, templates, and linters that support consistent microservice development.
• You advise product and development teams throughout the entire API lifecycle.
• You lead design reviews (ADRs) and participate in architecture committees.
• You promote best practices through workshops, documentation, and design sessions.
• You manage the API Management platform (e.g., Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway) and API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• You measure API quality and usage through relevant metrics and dashboards.
• You stay on top of API trends (AsyncAPI, API monetization, event-driven architecture) and integrate them into the technical roadmap.

• 8+ years of experience designing large-scale APIs, including 3+ years as an architect or tech lead.
• Proficiency in OpenAPI 3.x, JSON Schema, and contract-first API design.
• Working knowledge of Python, Java, and Go (able to review and suggest architectural patterns).
• Strong understanding of microservices, Kubernetes, and service meshes (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with Git-based CI/CD, contract testing tools (Prism, Dredd), and performance testing tools (k6, Gatling).
