Job Description:

We are now seeking the above position reporting into the Regional Director Operations – EU East, with a dotted line into the global Operations Performance Management Technical Centre, to provide subject matter expertise on all financial aspects of operations, including operating costs and capital expenditures & taking a leadership role in improving the plants’ cost position. The role will ideally be based in Poznan or Szamotuly (Poland).

Your Responsibilities:

1. To lead on the preparation of the annual financial plans for the plants/business across the region including; engaging with Plant and Technical Centre colleagues on setting benchmarks for operating costs and coordinating their input for the financial plan. To train, coordinate and assist operations teams on the planning process. Aid in developing and implementing capital strategies across the region.
2. To lead on plant cost analysis and variance review processes, with a view towards driving actions and value creation and contributing to updated forecasts in alignment with finance teams including; to take a lead role in leveraging performance management tools for review & response processes. Analyze performance gaps and highlight areas of opportunity by mining PI data, Maximo data, Hyperion, accounting reports, and power BI reports. Work with accounting to explain cost anomalies. To promote accountability of financial and operational KPIs among plant/regional leadership via coaching and follow-up.
3. Assisting Operations Technical Centres where needed by taking part in AFE preparation and lookbacks to understand financial justification of capital expenditures.
4. To leverage and promote Performance Excellence initiatives, such as Zero Loss, Focused Improvement and Losses-to-Action.
5. To perform, assist and coordinate in the month-end close processes, including inventory, load, and usage reconciliation, documenting as appropriate & engaging with accounting and relevant plant management on streamlining procedures to aid in accuracy and timeliness of results.
6. To review and update as appropriate energy and chemical forecasts.
7. To report on, refresh and distribute numerous reports and data including monthly financials against the plan, forecast information for monthly calls and EMEA KPI dashboards.

Your Profile:

1. Educated to degree level, ideally in an engineering or accountancy discipline.
2. In-depth experience in operations accounting or process operations (ideally with exposure to both).
3. Plant-specific process knowledge is preferred, or with the sufficient ability to learn quickly.
4. Plant-specific operations accounting and financial process familiarity preferred.
5. An understanding of operational accounting best practices with the ability to navigate ADM’s systems and processes.
6. A solid foundation in basic IT toolkits and productivity/BI software with the ability to adapt and provide required information quickly and in a clear manner.
7. Able to understand fundamentals of plant operations, including process flow, cost structure and basic energy and material balance.
8. A good knowledge of high level operating KPIs such as OEE, yield, energy/chemical utilization, and Cost of Poor Quality.
9. A good knowledge of plant costing matters, such as drivers for fixed and variable costs, how to plan and analyse, benchmarking and optimization and a good working knowledge in issues such as depreciation, pricing, inflation, operational efficiency, allocations and absorption.
10. Able to communicate effectively across multiple functions and levels both written and verbally on plant/regional performance and improvement efforts & comfortable preparing and presenting consolidated information to an audience.
