Responsibilities
- Be in charge of operational management within the "HR/People Service – Payroll" department, focusing on payroll delivery, vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and an employee‑customer centric approach.
- Deliver high‑quality, accurate, timely, compliant, and effective payrolls; maintain a control framework (SOX) using key performance indicators and vendor management.
- Develop and implement a proactive mindset within the team, emphasizing problem‑solving capabilities and customer service orientation.
- Engage comfortably with various stakeholders and conduct objective conversations, including exposure to local Country Board or staff council engagements.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex payroll queries escalated through HR, managers, and employees.
- Partner closely with Human Resources, Benefits, external service providers, Finance, Employment Tax Vendors, and other Payroll Managers to streamline and develop processes that ensure efficient local payroll processes.
- Manage relationships with payroll vendors, monitor SLAs and performance, and provide feedback on improvement opportunities.
- Identify new risks and propose internal ad‑hoc audits to close process gaps or improve and streamline processes across the end‑to‑end chain, potentially using CI/Gemba methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in HR, Finance & Accounting, Economics, or comparable education.
- Experience managing payroll processes in Germany.
- Fluency in German and English.
- Excellent leadership and coordination skills.
- Very good presentation and communication skills combined with strong collaboration and networking competencies, especially in a virtual environment.
Additional qualifications and skills
- Good knowledge of local labour law, social security, and employment tax law is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills, intercultural sensitivity, and the ability to interact with all levels of management while inspiring and motivating team members.
