Enterprise Risk Management is a sub-function of Global Risk. Within Enterprise Risk Management, HBCE Operational and Resilience Risk is responsible for ensuring that HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE) establishes and adheres to standards for the management of Operational Risk as set out in the Group’s framework for enterprise risk and operational risk management, and that Resilience Risks are managed within appetite.
This role is responsible for HBCE Operational Risk and Resilience Risk activities relating to operational losses, stress testing, and capital management. Additionally, the role will provide operational risk framework support to the first and second lines of defence across HBCE, respond to audit (internal, external) and regulatory requests, and support delivery of policy requirements.
Main Duties
- Assisting Head of HBCE Operational and Resilience Risk Management (ORR) in undertaking all ORR responsibilities relating to operational losses, stress testing and capital management for Continental Europe
- Defining and maintaining risk appetite, policies and frameworks
- Periodic assurance activities - targeted and specific reviews, and deep-dives
- Performing annual loss forecasting activity
- Scenario analysis, stress testing and capital management
- Ensuring guidance, review and challenge, reporting of events and operational losses
- Coordinating governance submissions and contributing to opinion papers in area of responsibility
- Responding to internal, external audit and regulatory requests
- Close collaboration with the Risk Stewards and Business Lines of HSBC Continental Europe and with Regional stakeholders
Requirements:
- Broad understanding of the Non-Financial Risk framework and experience in operational risk management
- Understanding of operational risk capital modelling, stress testing and business management
- Strong background in analysing data and gathering insights
- Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and written communications skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, build strong relationships and be a consistent team player
- Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc)
- A BA or BS University Degree, and relevant qualifications are preferred
