GreatAuPair is one of very few au pair agencies designated by the United States government to operate a J-1 cultural exchange program for au pairs. This means our host family and au pair selection criteria, screening, training, and monitoring processes must comply with US government au pair program regulations at all times. This helps ensure the safety of both au pairs and host families.
Safety First
All of our US host families are screened, personally interviewed, and receive a thorough background check. We also make sure that the host family has a nice bedroom and bathroom for you so you'll be comfortable and feel right at home.
Get Paid to Experience America
While there is a nominal application and program fee to join the au pair program, it's quite small given that your roundtrip airfare is covered, you will receive travel and accident insurance, and you can make over $10,000 USD in a year without paying for food or rent.
Easy Sign Up
When you sign up with us, you will be assigned a local GreatAuPair Representative in your home country. Your representative will meet with you personally to interview you, explain the details of our program, help you organize all your documents, and prepare for your trip to the US.
Valuable Training
The GreatAuPair USA Training Academy provides you with a comprehensive training program. Our program uses advanced training methods that will engage your senses and help you retain what you learn. Our training consists of 15 courses that deliver over 32 hours of valuable skill-building presentations through participation-based scenarios, discussion forums, assignments, video presentations and assessments. When you've completed your training you will receive a certificate of completion as evidence that you have the skills and knowledge to serve as an au pair.
Accept Your Match
GreatAuPair has hundreds of host families waiting to meet you, and it's easy to find your ideal US host family. When you've interviewed with a few of your favorite host families, you can accept a match. Once you're matched, and you've received your J-1 visa, we take care of the details of flying you to your host family's city.

You're sure to have an incredible adventure during your stay in the United States. But to be on the safe side, we're also looking out for your health and wellbeing. That's why GreatAuPair provides you with travel and accident coverage throughout your stay. So when you need medical attention, you'll have peace of mind, knowing you have chosen an au pair agency with quality coverage that's easy to use.
Continuous Support
You will receive continuous support for the duration of the program. GreatAuPair will assign you a Local Childcare Coordinator in the US who will check in on you and your host family each month to be sure you're doing well. We also offer emergency support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
