We have an opportunity for a Category Manager to join our Commercial team in either Hamilton, Sheffield or Manchester.

Finsbury Food Group is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. The Category Manager will own an assigned Category Strategy, leading the development, socialisation, and implementation. They will manage Finsbury’s Category relationship with key accounts to achieve budgeted profitable growth and support Finsbury’s Brand Team with market, category and consumer led insight to drive growth for our brand/license portfolio.

This is a fast-paced role, where the successful candidate will ideally be degree educated with proven experience in a customer-facing FMCG Customer Marketing/Category Management (ideally with Major Multiples) role. They will also have experience of using key category management tools – e.g. EPOS & panel data, shopper & consumer insight, range management, space planning/merchandising, together with excellent communication and attention to detail.

This role offers Hybrid working as an option from either our Glasgow, Sheffield or Manchester site. On occasion, you will be required to attend one of our other sites (Manchester, Sheffield, Glasgow, Cardiff or Salisbury) and customers for meetings which could be weekly or monthly, depending on the requirement.

This is what you’ll actually do!

  1. Be the voice of the shopper & consumer via effective use of market data, insight & trends.
  2. Develop and implement shopper & consumer led category plans to support delivery of commercial and customer objectives.
  3. Create and deliver compelling selling stories for FFG products in conjunction with Sales, Marketing and Development Teams.
  4. Develop category plans to drive our Branded portfolio.
  5. Build positive relationships with external & internal stakeholders.
  6. Attend customer meetings to present latest category, market, and shopper data & insights.

Ideally this is you!

  1. Experienced customer facing FMCG Customer Marketing/Category Management (ideally with Major Multiples).
  2. Experience of using key category management tools – e.g. EPOS & panel data, shopper & consumer insight, range management, space planning/merchandising.
  3. Commercial insight & acumen – build/adapt customer/category plans to meet & exceed commercial objectives.
  4. Able to present category information in a clear & confident way to all audiences.
  5. Ability to interpret multiple data and insight sources to solve problems effectively.
  6. Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.
  7. Strong attention to detail.
  8. Educated to Degree level.
