Verisk is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist to join our Cracow team and spearhead our projects for the US-based insurance market.

As an experienced Data Scientist, you will have an opportunity to:

  1. Participate in the development and execution of project plans for timely project completion. May contribute to setting up project framework and project goal setting.
  2. Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to develop high-performing models (GLM, statistical, time series and other) that adhere to regulatory and privacy standards while addressing complex business objectives and client needs.
  3. Ensure statistical, computational, and algorithmic validity of results.
  4. Perform analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve complex business problems, utilizing advanced statistical, mathematical and machine learning techniques.
  5. Cooperate with other technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver practical solution(s) that meet business objectives.
  6. Provide required support for project delivery and implementation.
  7. Create clear and comprehensive technical documentation to support product development and maintenance.
  8. Present analytical ideas, report progress and results to internal stakeholders and project managers.
  9. Collaborate with other data scientists to devise innovative technical approaches and enhance existing technical tools.
  10. Stay abreast of emerging methods to ensure the application of cutting-edge techniques.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
  2. Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. Graduate-level degree with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, economics, operations research, computer science or aligned discipline.
  2. 2+ years of experience in the Data Science area in a business environment.
  3. Skilled with EDA, feature engineering, model selection and assessment methodologies, as well as familiar with all stages of the data science project lifecycle.
  4. Extensive knowledge in and applied experience with statistical and machine learning methods.
  5. Experience in using Python programming language in data-related projects.
  6. Experience with cloud computing environments - AWS preferred.
  7. Highly developed logical, evidence-based problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Nice to have:

  1. Practical experience and knowledge about time series analysis and modeling (for one of the projects within project portfolio supported by the team).
  2. Insurance experience, focusing on the personal lines, commercial lines, underwriting or related business content.
