Medical Science Liaison – Neurology for AstraZeneca.

The role is field‑based and executes strategic medical plans through scientific education, evidence‑based medicine advocacy, clinical research support and strategic healthcare partnerships to improve patient outcomes.
Key Tasks
Scientific Exchange
- Engage Key External Experts, healthcare practitioners and stakeholders through non‑promotional scientific discussions about AstraZeneca disease areas and products.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for off‑label information objectively, balanced and scientifically substantiated.
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans with clear objectives and expected outcomes.
- Organize scientific meetings, advisory boards and serve as speaker at external conferences.
- Gather insights on healthcare landscape, unmet needs and treatment approaches to inform strategic decisions.
Research Support
- Support evidence generation through interventional and non‑interventional studies.
- Assess trial feasibility, conduct site selection visits and support recruitment efforts.
- Provide information about Externally Sponsored Research and Open Innovation programs.
- Collaborate with researchers on AstraZeneca‑sponsored clinical trial activities.
Scientific/Subject Matter Expertise
- Provide internal stakeholders with clinical practice insights and strategic information supporting appropriate AstraZeneca product use.
- Support staff training on clinical data and therapeutic area trends.
- Maintain current medical/scientific expertise in disease management, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies and competitive landscape.
- Document interactions and insights using appropriate systems (e.g. Veeva Medical CRM, etc.).
Cross‑functional Collaboration
- Work with Sales and Market Access teams on shared priority accounts.
- Participate in cross‑functional account planning with defined criteria and shared goals.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- College/university degree in science or clinical field with relevant scientific experience.
- Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content with diverse audiences.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel (percentage varies by geographic responsibility).
- English proficiency.
- PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Training and presentation capabilities.
