Overview

Join to apply for the Mechanical Engineer - Cable Connections role at TKH Technology

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead an innovative prefabricated cable connector project for low-voltage infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to combine design creativity with practical engineering thinking in the dynamically developing energy sector. If you have a passion for solving complex technical challenges and want to influence the development of modern infrastructure solutions, this position is for you.

Responsibilities

  • In the project, you will be responsible for
  • Design mechanically reliable, pottable plug connection resistant to tensile forces and underground conditions.
  • Translate functional requirements (strength, IP68 tightness, electrical insulation, mechanical protection, serviceability) into production-ready product.
  • Integrate design with existing resin/epoxy potting processes at external partners.
  • Create 3D models (SolidWorks / Inventor / Creo), technical documentation and manufacturing tolerances.
  • Select appropriate plastics or composites (PA6, PC/ABS, PBT, PUR, epoxy) considering shrinkage, adhesion and thermal resistance.
  • Develop locking and guiding system enabling easy field assembly/disassembly.
  • Coordinate prototype construction and validation testing (IP, tensile strength, temperature).
  • Collaborate with external cable partners and prefabrication teams.
  • Document results and prepare complete technical dossier (CE, IEC, NEN compliance).

Expected Results (first 6 months)

  • Functional requirements specification (forces, sealing, tolerances, material).
  • 3D model and documentation for plug and socket prototype.
  • Material and testing plan for IP compliance and potting process.
  • First pilot prototype in cooperation with cable partner.
  • Cost analysis and serial production feasibility.

Who are we looking for?

Position Objective

Design, development and implementation of prefabricated plug and socket housing, mounted directly on four-core aluminum cable. The electrical connection and the cable itself are manufactured by an external company – the engineer is responsible exclusively for the design and development of the mechanical and material part of the connector, including sealing, locking and integration with potting compound.

  • Practical engineer with understanding of production and assembly realities.
  • Combines creativity with technological discipline.
  • Thinks systematically – understands that product, process and logistics form one solution.
  • Able to communicate with designers, manufacturers and external partners.
  • A person who’s eager to share knowledge with others
  • A person who understands of the industry and its processes, including knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, and assembly processes
  • Higher technical education (mechanical, materials engineering or industrial design).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in designing connectors, cable components, sealing systems or plastic components.
  • Experience in IP-certified component projects, injection molding or potting techniques, and knowledge of low/medium voltage infrastructure (LV/MV).
  • Knowledge of standards: NEN-EN 50393, IEC 60529, NEN 3140.
  • Ability to work in 3D CAD environment, FEM analysis, prototyping and testing.
  • Experience in supplier management and DFM optimization preferred.
  • Fluent command of Polish and English with effective business communication skills (at least B2)
