Mechanical Commissioning Engineer
Location: Central London
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 + Travel + Benefits

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join one of Europe’s leading MEP contractors, delivering a major high-tech commercial project in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a forward-thinking contractor that delivers complex, large-scale projects across multiple sectors including data centres, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, test packs, and schedules.
- Coordinate and witness FATs and SATs, ensuring compliance with ITPs.
- Manage all on-site mechanical commissioning activities including HVAC, piping, and plant systems.
- Verify installation against P&IDs, schematics, and specifications.
- Lead walkdowns, snag lists, and third-party inspections.
- Track commissioning progress using live trackers and reports.
- Ensure EHS compliance across all commissioning operations.
- Liaise with clients, design teams, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Manage specialist subcontractors and ensure quality documentation is complete.
- Support project handover, O&M documentation, and client training.
Requirements
- Degree or advanced qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience delivering commissioning on major mechanical projects.
- Strong background in data centre, industrial, commercial, or pharmaceutical environments.
- Excellent understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water, pipework, and pressure testing.
- Proven ability to lead commissioning teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in developing and approving test scripts, ITPs, and QA/QC documentation.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, EHS, and Quality Work Management Systems.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and client-facing skills.
- Must have Right to Work in the UK.
