Manufacturing Operational Excellence Senior Consultant

We’re looking for a Consultant with expertise in Manufacturing and Operational Excellence to join us in EY GDS-SC&O. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm whilst being instrumental in the growth of a new service offering.

The opportunity

As part of our team, you will help clients improve the performance of their supply chain. Working with EY GDS -SC&O proprietary frameworks, you will help clients to improve reliability, flexibility, and responsiveness of their supply chain whilst reducing the total cost.

We are looking for Business Consultants with experience in Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, Smart factory design/Implementation including Gen AI, Factory simulation capabilities, IT-OT architecture, digital roadmap, digital framework, maturity assessment across Industries.

Your key responsibilities

  • Identify, define and execute projects for adapting the latest technologies and advanced tools.
  • Support implementation of IIoT for assigned sites. Accountable for executing data analytics and visualization required for supply chain and factory digitization worldwide.
  • Collaborate with technology teams in effective execution of the digital manufacturing transformation initiatives at various sites.
  • Develop a global rollout plan for digital manufacturing solution/use cases implementation.
  • Define the deployment operating and governance model.
  • Provide expertise in the deployment of high-end technological initiatives like Control Tower, RPA, IQ-BOT, ML, AI, Data sciences, and Data Engineering.
  • Drive operational excellence to improve client’s performance and supply chain stability.
  • Hands-on experience of shop-floor processes and ability to interact with shop floor people (technicians, operators, casuals) to understand the real problem and to implement various systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to handle structured and unstructured data generated during the manufacturing process and ability to devise meaningful stories around the same.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong core consulting skills i.e. analytical, primary and secondary research presentation and including logical structuring and storyboarding, superior knowledge of Excel/PowerBI and PowerPoint.
  • Solid knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0, Digital Transformation.
  • Strong presentation and verbal and written communication skills, and experience communicating to and working with onsite teams, clients, and senior leadership.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, responsiveness, and strong track record of executing high-impact initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills and experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Higher Degree Education and relevant business or consulting experience.
  • Strong experience within operational excellence and production systems, supply chain management.
  • Prior experience in Value Stream Mapping, Manufacturing Capacity Audit and/or Operations Strategy.
  • Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or automotive processes as a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing toolbox familiarity, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certificate as a plus.
  • Very good command of English, other key European language as a plus (German/French).
  • Ability to travel.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations for clients and management is an essential part of the role.
  • Experience with analytical tools will be an added plus (Llamasoft, Supply Chain Strategist, R, Python, SQL etc.) – Network Optimization, Inventory Optimization.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, design thinking, and passion for planning would drive this role.
