We are looking for a professional who will be responsible for overseeing Sibelco’s Health & Safety and Environmental emissions programs for the Cluster. Someone who will work effectively with site/cluster management in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety laws in the Workplace and Environmental Emissions laws and will support & monitor the implementation of Sibelco ‘Get To Zero’ on a day-to-day basis in the cluster.

There is a split in responsibilities: 80% Health & Safety and 20% Environmental.

This position will be based in our Bukowno plant but will require travel to Gdansk on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, research and monitor relevant local HS laws, effectively inform all relevant internal and external stakeholders and propose actions to comply
  • Support the Cluster Operations manager, Country Manager and site management in managing requests, visits and reports to regulatory HS authorities
  • Collaborate with the regional HS and CoE HS to support the rollout of the GTZ program, share good practices in the HS community and develop HS trainings
  • Report and classify HS incidents + participate in HS Incident Investigations done by Cluster leadership to identify root causes, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Engage & provide information to consultants, suppliers or medical service providers to perform HS measurements, assessments or inspections + analyze reports + enter data
  • Timely report HS performance data to different stakeholders, using SAM & PowerBI
  • Develop the site emergency response plans and support site leadership in organizing training & exercises on it
  • Develop site Risk Registers and keep up to date. Train relevant people in risk assessment methodologies like SOP and LMRA relevant data
  • Inspect workplaces and incident locations
  • Verify in the workplace Critical Controls and perform Process Confirmations
  • Perform risk assessments in the workplace
  • Ensure that visitors and contractors are properly inducted and new employees onboarded in Sibelco’s HS rules
  • Answer HS related questions in the field
  • Provide support during execution of HS motive projects
  • Influence & coach site leadership, supervisors and operators to build a safety culture in the site & promote safety in shift or handover meetings
  • Roll out or support supervisors in delivering HS related trainings
  • Understand legal obligations and permit conditions regarding environmental emissions for the sites and locations in scope
  • Set up the monitoring systems and ensure that emissions are measured on the required frequency
  • Engage with consultants to perform the measurements, obtain the environmental data and analysis reports
  • Discuss emission results with the cluster responsible and Sustainability
  • Ensure necessary data and analysis reports are sent to the authorities in time
  • Support environmental inspections on emission measurement (not on other permit conditions) on site (incl. preparation of requests on measurements from authorities)
  • Initiate remediation actions in relation to emissions, if needed, and pro-actively follow up
  • Propose improvements and discuss with cluster responsible and sustainability
  • support in the preparation of reclamation in post-exploitation areas assumptions, support in procedures for reclamation approval with the authorities and supervising work performed on the deposits
  • support in preparing administrative certificates and official letters regarding current operation, reclamation and investments carried out on the plant

About you

  • Higher or postgraduate education in the field of occupational safety and health
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety position in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with corporate headquarters or international structures will be a strong advantage
  • Very good knowledge of Polish labor and health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 standards and internal auditors authorization is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a dispersed, international team
  • Willingness to travel on business
  • License to drive cat B
  • Fluency in both Polish and English at professional level is required
