We are starting a new firmware development team in Gliwice, Poland! This team will be responsible for low-level development of smart camera software– from accessing bare image sensor, triggering of image acquisition, lighting and liquid lens control, through image pre-processing on dedicated hardware (ARM), porting vendor-provided BSP to custom design, to device management, industrial communication protocols, and communication with the solution’s higher-level software. The manager of this team will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of product improvements, new features, and bug fixing, consistent with requirements from Product Managers, customers and regulatory. We expect good technical leadership coming hand in hand with strong people management skills and experience with scaled Agile/Scrum development methodologies. The team will start with 5-7 people.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, automatic control, telecommunication, electronics or mechatronics. 6+ years experience in firmware/software engineering, including managerial roles.
Technical skills in firmware/software development (ARM-based platforms, bare metal C environments, debugging of peripherals and buses, bootloaders, vendor-provided BSP, creating device drivers, Linux-based services and subsystems, Yocto distributions, multi-threading, advanced C/C++ programming and debugging, continuous integration, testing). Familiarity with camera systems (sensors, interfaces, image pre-processing). Deep understanding of (and believe in) the Manifesto of Agile Software Development. Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework or a similar development framework. Strong interpersonal skills, including working with people from different time zones and cultures. Full professional proficiency in US English.
Work hours 9:00-17:00, occasionally extending to accommodate the East coast time zone. Travelling to America (usually New York or Montreal) - approx. once a year.
