Overview

Directs and manages all ammonia refrigeration, electrical and mechanical services for the two sites and the maintenance of all production machinery/equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies. Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates overall maintenance activities through planning and communication with supervisors to ensure the total maintenance objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.
  • Manages and maintains all PSM related activities at the sites.
  • Develops and controls plans and budgets for the maintenance area.
  • Develops and implements a cost-effective preventative maintenance program to maintain production equipment in an efficient, safe operating condition.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors on projects or repairs.
  • Ensures adequate, cost-effective inventories of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials and repair parts.
  • Controls and minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime.
  • Directs changeovers of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules.
  • Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
  • Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to subordinates both direct and in-direct.
  • Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations.
  • Coordinates with other department managers to ensure proper purchasing, processing, packaging, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the maintenance area.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Supports Operational Excellence initiatives within plant.

EH&S Responsibilities

Partnering with the EH&S Manager to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of the sites through Safety Inspections, Hazard Assessments, Training, Compliance Monitoring, and Environmental Compliance.

Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities

Applies the food safety and quality principles as described in the Marzetti Corporate Food Safety and Quality Manual and internal Marzetti Frozen Pasta policies, training and procedures in all applicable aspects of departmental and job functions.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

  • 10 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry utilizing ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, budgets, equipment and production processes.
  • Technical degree in a related field preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises 3 direct reports and 8-15 in-direct employees in the maintenance area across two sites. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of the maintenance areas. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and bend while moving about the facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plants. Earplugs, hairnets and safety glasses are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
