Position Overview

The Logistics Specialist will provide support to the logistics teams, resolve ad-hoc logistics problems, and collect and analyze transportation data. This position works closely with the EMEA Customer Service, Lab Operations, Clinical Operations, Commercial Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Warehouse teams. The International Logistics Specialist will monitor daily reports from carriers to ensure shipments are on track to meet expected delivery dates for inbound and outbound shipments.

The Logistics Specialist will support the initiative of changing carrier provider for our customer base. That will include supporting alignment with country commercial teams, Customer Service, broader logistic teams in US, IT and other functions required to enable that transition.

 

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Exercise logistics support through standard practices and processes.
  • Track shipments across different channels.
  • Identify and resolve issues as they arise in logistics.
  • Provide analysis with logistics tools and metrics.
  • Analyze, interpret, and implement key performance metrics for logistics partners.
  • Provide data analysis updates and reports to management in support of tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate cross-functionally to investigate, research, and resolve all exceptions promptly and include any necessary coordination with other departments.
  • Establish and implement corrective and preventative actions through continuous improvement initiatives; including, but not limited to, leading significant projects on cross-functional teams.
  • Build rapport and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Maintain excellent interdepartmental communication.
  • Ability to lead and participate in a fast-paced team environment with aggressive deadlines.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel within Europe.
  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or Associates Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fluency in the English language (C1 or above per CEFR framework).
  • 3+ years of experience working in logistics.
  • Strong proficiency in Intra Europe and International shipments.
  • Strong proficiency in import/export customs procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of UPS, FedEx, and DHL systems for domestic and international shipments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a biotech manufacturing, GMP, and/or ISO13485 environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of less than load (LTL) and full truckload (FTL) carriers.
  • Experience shipping dangerous goods.
  • Experience with cold chain shipping.
  • Experience in molecular biology, genomics, translational science, and/or personalized medicine.
  • Superior technical communication skills.
  • Knowledge of other European languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish) and/or Japanese.
