Mission
As a Lead Buyer Capex at Aperam, you play a key role in developing and implementing our global Capex purchasing strategy. You support the Services & Solutions and Aperam Recycling divisions in their industrial investment projects by building strategic supplier relationships, driving innovative sourcing approaches, and ensuring effective risk management. Together with the Global Category Manager Capex and your business stakeholders, you deliver value creation, cost optimization, and sustainable competitiveness across the group.
Your Role
As an experienced and autonomous Lead Buyer, you are responsible for the full strategic procurement cycle of Capex projects—from market strategy and tendering to negotiations, contracting, and supplier performance management. You translate business investment needs into well‑defined sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, risk, and innovation.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end purchasing process for Capex investments, including tenders, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned Capex categories in alignment with the global Capex roadmap
- Analyze supplier markets, conduct benchmarks, and identify innovative solutions and cost optimization opportunities
- Drive complex negotiations with suppliers at a strategic level to achieve sustainable value creation
- Monitor supplier performance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring quality, timeliness, compliance, and proactive risk management
- Collaborate closely with technical and project teams to translate specifications, budgets, and timelines into effective procurement strategies
- Ensure compliance with the Group Purchasing Policy, including correct use of tools, systems, and governance processes
- Contribute to the annual Capex budgeting process by consolidating procurement forecasts and monitoring actual spending
- Share best practices with other Lead Buyers across Aperam and engage in external benchmarking to drive innovation and efficiency
Your Profile
- Strategic procurement professional with a proven track record in Capex sourcing and supplier management
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to influence stakeholders in a global industrial environment
What We Expect from You
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement, including at least 3 years in Capex purchasing within an industrial or technical setting
- Proven experience in defining and implementing sourcing strategies, leading supplier selection, and managing complex negotiations
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, governance, market analysis, and cost optimization
- Ability to identify commercial opportunities and translate them into actionable strategies
- Demonstrated leadership in supplier negotiations with measurable business impact
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels of the organization
- Fluent in English and at least one other Aperam language (French, Dutch, or German)
Education
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience
