Overview

We are going through an exciting period of change and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work closely with your cross functional team to design and implement new features and products and act as the driving force within the Engineering team to ensure these are developed successfully. This role is within our Order Management domain where we aspire to build a best-in-class OMS implementation using the latest technologies and software centred around Fluent Commerce.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

1. Leads technical solutions of the highest scope and complexity to achieve squad goals.
2. Works closely with Engineering Squad Lead, Principal Engineers and Architecture to create low-level designs that support long-range goals.
3. Design, develop, test, and deploy high quality software that will delight our customers.
4. Work with users and stakeholders to understand and deliver value through your product.
5. Participate and lead upon design, code, and test reviews.
6. Practice DevOps, testing and releasing software continuously.
7. Integrate software with monitoring, observability, and support tools.
8. Advocates and leads on instilling engineering best practices.
9. Follow data-driven approaches to conduct experiments and iterate features.
10. Advocates and leads on knowledge sharing and technical documentation activities for their squad, as well as the wider engineering community.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Significant experience designing, developing, and implementing order management solutions using Fluent Commerce.
2. Substantial experience technically leading software solutions.
3. Expert proficiency programming in Java and significant exposure to modern web technologies Spring, Spring Boot.
4. Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
5. Experience working with cloud-based solutions.
6. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, and source control systems.
7. Strong understanding of RESTful services (JSON) and API Design.
8. Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
9. Ability to decompose functional requirements into well-defined tasks while balancing quality, quantity, and complexity in work output.
10. Excellent communication skills and be a mentor and role model to less experienced engineers.
