About the project

We are looking for a Lead Java Developer to join our team at Germanys number one sports betting company. The ideal candidate will drive the implementation of features and actively engage in end-to-end delivery within the wallet and bonus domain. They will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and manage both complex problem investigations and daily team tasks.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and Architect to refine project requirements
  • Lead the implementation of features, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional specifications
  • Engage actively in code reviews as both reviewer and reviewee
  • Work alongside the Quality Engineer to test implementations and make necessary adjustments
  • Identify and communicate risks and issues to the team leader
  • Propose improvements in technical design, code, and team processes
  • Share knowledge and insights with team members, fostering a learning environment

Our requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Java development
  • 1+ years of relevant leadership experience (team up to 7 FTEs)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in managing large legacy systems, specifically systems updated to Java 8
  • Knowledge of Spring Boot Microservices (Java 17+), Spring REST, and Spring Data
  • Background in security with Spring Security and Kubernetes deployment on AWS EKS
  • Skills in MySQL and Redis database management
  • Proficiency in AWS services including S3, Elastic Cache, MSK (Kafka), and RDS
  • Familiarity with Jenkins and monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Instana, and CloudWatch
  • Understanding of SCRUM/Kanban agile methodologies
  • Capability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent English communication skills (B2+ level)

Optional

  • Experience in third-party product integration
  • History of working with legal policies and restrictions in sports betting or similar fields
  • Expertise in session management and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions
