Lead Data Strategy & Architecture Consultant
Apply for the Lead Data Strategy & Architecture Consultant role at Siemens Energy.
A Snapshot of Your Day
You are the strategic bridge between our business goals and our technical reality. You won’t just be building pipelines—you will be defining why and how we build them. Your day involves assessing the big-picture data needs of our Grid Technologies execution units, designing high-level architectural roadmaps, and leading cross‑functional initiatives that turn fragmented data into a competitive advantage. You are the trusted advisor who helps business units navigate their digital transformation journey.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Facilitate Data Strategy: Lead workshops and strategy sessions with business units to translate high-level goals (e.g., "digitalize the grid") into concrete, actionable data roadmaps and architectural blueprints.
- Advisory & Consulting: Serve as the primary technical consultant to our Execution Units, reviewing their proposed solutions, challenging inefficient designs, and guiding them toward enterprise‑grade architectures (e.g., Data Mesh, Lakehouse).
- Lead Transformation Initiatives: Own large‑scale data projects—such as cloud migrations or master data harmonization—coordinating efforts across distributed teams without direct line‑management authority.
- Architectural Governance: Define and champion the “Golden Standards” for data quality and governance, ensuring local solutions align with our global data strategy.
- Technology Enablement: Scout and recommend emerging technologies (AI/ML, Automation, Data Fabric), helping teams adopt new tools to solve business problems.
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strategic Experience: 5+ years in Data Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, or Technical Consulting with a track record of leading data initiatives from concept to execution in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Technical Authority: Deep expertise in modern data stacks (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure/AWS, Python/SQL). You may not code every day, but have the technical depth to design systems and challenge engineering decisions.
- Leadership without Authority: Natural facilitation, aligning conflicting stakeholders, managing expectations, and driving progress across teams that do not report to you.
- Transformation Focus: Experience with major changes (e.g., moving from on‑prem to cloud, implementing Data Governance frameworks like DAMA) is essential.
- Data Engineering Skills: Hands‑on experience with ETL/ELT tools, data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory), and SQL/NoSQL databases.
