We are going through an exciting period of change and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. You will work as part of our exciting greenfield tech hub covering all facets of technology within Kingfisher. You will be responsible for the day-to-day performance and productivity of a small team, leading by example whilst driving quality and ensuring delivery to scope.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

1. Work in an agile team, collaborate with other teams, advising, mentoring, and line managing other Data Engineers.
2. Act as an escalation point for the team, unblocking technical or project-related issues to maintain project progress.
3. Lead in design, architecture, and delivery of new features and pipelines within the team.
4. Support the Principal Data Engineer with resourcing and other day-to-day management duties.
5. Maintain high-performing teams by driving continuous improvement of engineering and agile practices and standards.
6. Be an active member of the Kingfisher-wide technical lead team to help define development processes and code quality standards, also serve as a technical leader within the organisation.
7. Promote TDD to design and develop operationally maintainable solutions in accordance with Kingfisher standards.
8. Ensure competence in the specialism is sustained, developed, and encouraged within your team by being a data engineer with a passion for leading and coaching.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Developer/engineering background of large-scale distributed data processing systems (or experience in equal measure). Can provide constructive feedback based on knowledge.
2. Highly knowledgeable about data modelling, testing, quality, access, and storage.
3. Programming in one or more languages within our data eco-system (Python, SQL).
4. Implemented cloud data technologies on either GCP, Azure, or AWS (Azure preferred).
5. Knowledge around shortening development lead time and improving data development lifecycle.
6. Worked in an Agile delivery framework.
