Overview

Join the new Vestas Blades Tooling department. You will join a team of tooling engineers who value a culture of excellence, innovation and accountability.

Vestas Blades Process Engineering establishes an effective engineering organization capable of setting new industry benchmarks in manufacturing excellence. The main purpose of the organization is to optimize existing blade manufacturing processes and develop robust, standardized and capable processes for new blade designs and to deliver consistent, high-quality engineering support across all manufacturing sites. The Lay-up Blades Tooling department is responsible for tooling development, requirements and specifications. The function will also support supplier management and development. Service and maintenance strategy is also within their scope together with OOE and TPM.

Responsibilities

As a Tooling Engineer at Vestas, you will play a key role in defining the requirements and specifications for tools used in the Lay-up process, in the blades building process. If you do not have deep knowledge within composite materials, you will have a high motivation to acquire it. Your main responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize tools for the lay-up processes
  • Create tooling and supplier roadmap via analysis of AS IS and future state
  • Tool development and delivery (TPM)
  • Service and maintenance strategy including EAM
  • Investigating and solving production issues using structured methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA
  • Applying continuous improvement principles using quality tools like SPC, Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure final product quality

Qualifications

  • About 6-8 years of experience in similar roles as described above
  • Knowledge and experience with Six Sigma and Lean
  • Ability to develop and/or specify the functions of tools for handling the blade parts connected to lay-up process, including equipment for quality control and online process measurements

Competences

  • Deep understanding of how manufacturing processes can be automated for product quality benefits
  • Preferably knowledge of composite materials, including fiberglass, carbon fiber, epoxy resins, and other materials used in production
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and organized
  • Ability to work with others across a large organization, building a network across cultures and time zones with stakeholders
  • Customer-oriented with understanding of the complete business value chain from a customer perspective
  • Willingness to spend time in the factory environment as required to understand and solve problems

Additional information
