The level of complexity of hx Renew requires a highly technical, true engineering mindset so an output of this is a deeply creative, innovative environment where we push technological boundaries, both through our work and our regular (and sometimes irregular!) hackathons.

Your mission

2023 has been a big year for hyperexponential. Our profile is growing rapidly, and our customer base with it. We have tonnes of exciting features to develop and we want to deliver more of them in parallel, sooner, safer, than weve ever done before. To make sure were set for the future were going to be looking at all our systems, refreshing most of them and reworking the rest to get us ready for anything. Its a deeply exciting prospect for us, and your mission will be to help us deliver this!

The Policies team creates value by offering an unrivalled experience within and beyond Renew that significantly improves an underwriter’s effectiveness and efficiency in decision-making, leading to finalised  prices for their clients.

Required experience and skills

• Deep technical expertise on the engineering excellence bordering product and platform work.
• Mainly Kotlin / JVM technologies with spring & hibernate.

  • This year, we will focus on deeper architectural work like authentication and authorisation systems, decoupling them from the main monolith.

  • Additionally, we are conducting product work on new features expanding our product coverage.
• Rust for some of our services.
• Basic knowledge of Python is a plus but is not required.
• AWS / Terraform knowledge for dynamic infrastructure that is used for running our clients custom code.
• Have built cloud applications at scale
• Have a demonstrably good working knowledge of fundamental computer science and software engineering principles (algorithms, data structures, complexity, design patterns, architecture)
• Have experience of a complete product development lifecycle (conception through to delivery)
