Offer Description
Director of the Centre of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw, with the approval from the Rector of the University of Warsaw, announces the opening of the position of Postdoc (Assistant professor/adjunct) in the group of researchers in the Quantum Optical Devices Lab, Centre of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw.
The candidate must meet the criteria specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 with amendments) and the art 119 of the Statutes of the University of Warsaw
- PhD degree in physics awarded at least on the day of the deadline for this call, but not later than five years before the call deadline. The PhD degree should be obtained in a country of the EU, EFTA, OECD, or nostrified on the date of employment at the latest1
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Polish is a plus
- Significant scientific achievements, proven by being a co‑author at least five papers in journals awarded 200 points by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland according to the list available at https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/komunikat-ministra-nauki-z-dnia-05-styczni…
- Experience in the implementation of research projects with excellent experimental techniques:
- acting as co‑investigator
- Programming of microcontrollers interconnected via a can‑bus, proven by a git repository
- Experience in designing, constructing and characterising microwave antennas, proven by documentation
- Design and 3D printing of microwave‑compatible temperature control systems, proven by documentation
- Quantum estimation, proven by a publication track record
- Construction of major experimental setups with cold atoms and quantum light, proven by a publication track record
- Openness to internal and external collaborations
- Experience in the commercialisation of research results and collaboration, proven by being a co‑author of at least one granted patent application
- Possibility to engage in ambitious research plans of the International Research Agenda

Eligibility criteria
- the candidate’s research achievements, including publications in prestigious academic press/journals
- research achievements, scholarships, awards and research experience gained in Poland or abroad, research workshops and training courses, participation in research projects
- The candidate’s competencies to carry out specific tasks in the research project
- soft skills (communication skills, ability to work in a team, resistance to stress)
Date of announcing the results and method of notification about the results: It is planned that the candidates will be notified about the outcome of the first stage of the recruitment process after 17th December 2025. The information about the results of the selection procedure will be sent by email. Interviews (remote or in person) for short‑listed candidates are planned for 23th December 2025.
