At Smith+Nephew we are looking for: Junior Event Specialist PL & CEE

(fixed term contract for maternity leave cover)

Junior Event Specialist provides support to the Event and Congress Manager, assisting the Country Manager and Sales Leaders. This role encompasses all Commercial Community segments, ensuring the seamless coordination and efficient execution of tasks related to event management and strategic sales initiatives. Key responsibilities include facilitating communication, assisting in logistical planning, and offering administrative support to ensure alignment with organizational goals and optimal performance across various business units.

What will you be doing?

  1. 3rd Party Industry Event Organizing: you’ll collaborate with business partners, manage event documentation and requests, maintain the event calendar, and oversee exhibition booth design and production.
  2. Internal Event Organizing: you’ll source and coordinate meeting venues, manage logistics with agencies and hotels, assist with event budgets, and provide onsite support during events.
  3. Communication with Vendors and Partners: you’ll build strong relationships with service providers, manage POs and invoicing, negotiate vendor terms, and ensure timely, high-quality contract fulfillment.
  4. Budget Management Assistance: you’ll assist in creating event budgets, monitor expenses to ensure alignment, oversee budgets across franchises, and track and report spending for each event and channel.
  5. Event Promotion and Marketing: you’ll help create promotional materials and collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and engage participants.
  6. Post-Event Analysis and Reporting: you’ll gather participant feedback, analyze event success, create evaluation reports, and contribute to planning future improvements.

What you will need to be successful?

  1. Educational Background: Higher education or ongoing studies, preferably in management, marketing, communication, or tourism.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in a junior event role (including internships or positions involving organizing events, conferences, training sessions, or trade fairs).
  3. Key Skills: Strong organizational abilities, effective communication skills, and attention to detail, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  4. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), event management tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams), and other office applications.
  5. Language Skills: Proficiency in English (B2 level or higher), both written and spoken.
  6. Mobility and Licenses: Active category B driving license and willingness to travel for business (within Poland and Central and Eastern Europe).
  7. Additional Assets: Creativity, professionalism, independence, high personal culture, and knowledge of the medical industry (advantageous but not mandatory).
