This position will involve:

• Working on new features and helping to improve the efficiency and reliability of existing services.

• Working with languages such as Go, Java (Spring boot framework), and Node.js, developing application error monitoring, Real User Monitoring (RUM), and other observability solutions.

About the role:

As a Junior Back End Engineer at SmartBear, you will be focused on developing BugSnag’s highly scalable, cloud-based real-time error reporting or observability processing systems. You will take ownership of features from low-level design and implementation, to creating automated tests and deploying into our live production systems. You will also be empowered to contribute to improving our tools and processes, to ensure we continue to provide an industry-leading working environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Joining an agile team of talented engineers focusing on the design, development, and testing of BugSnags core error report and observability processing systems.
• Working on a microservice architecture in Go, Java (Spring Boot framework) or Node.js, with Kubernetes, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Working with storage solutions like MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Gluster, and messaging technologies gRPC/Protobuf, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Taking joint responsibility for the maintenance of several sub-systems.
• Working closely with other engineering teams on new product features.
• Working with customer engineers to investigate and resolve issues reported by users.

We are looking for you if you have:

• Strong problem-solving skills with an interest in working in a broad range of technologies.
• 2+ years experience developing in some of our key languages; Go, Java (Spring Boot framework), or Node.js.
• Experience in working with storage solutions like MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, or Gluster.
• Experience with messaging technologies like gRPC/Protobuf, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Recent experience working in an agile and dynamic development environment making use of continuous delivery and test-driven development.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• English at B2 level or above.
