Location: Warsaw, Poland + Business Trips

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Salary: 15.000-30.000 PLN gross (contract of employment) or 15.000-30.000 Net+VAT (b2b contract)

Job Overview:

The International Business Development Director is responsible for driving the global growth strategy of the company specialized in commodity trading of raw materials. This senior leadership role involves identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and leading the expansion into international markets. The role requires a deep understanding of global business environments, market dynamics, and cultural nuances, along with the ability to manage complex projects across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive international business development strategy aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
  2. Identify and evaluate new commodities trading market opportunities, including emerging markets, to drive sustainable growth.
  3. Conduct market research in the area of raw materials and analysis to understand global trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  4. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local partners, distributors of raw materials.
  5. Negotiate and manage strategic partnerships, and alliances that support market entry and expansion.
  6. Lead the planning and execution of commodities market entry strategies, including localization, regulatory compliance, and go-to-market plans.
  7. Oversee the establishment of international operations, including setting up local offices and recruiting regional teams.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, logistics, legal, finance) to ensure successful market launches and growth initiatives.
  9. Develop and manage the international business development budget, ensuring cost-effective execution of global initiatives.
  10. Track and report on key performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing global business activities.
  11. Build and lead a high-performing international business development team.
  12. Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.
  13. Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture within the global business development function.
  14. Identify and mitigate risks associated with international operations, including legal, financial, and reputational risks.
  15. Ensure compliance with all relevant international laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education: MA degree in Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in international business development in the area of commodity trading of raw materials or a related field. Proven track record of successfully leading market entry and expansion projects in multiple regions. Experience working in diverse cultural environments and managing cross-border teams.

Skills: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities. In-depth understanding of global business trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes. Proficiency in multiple languages is highly desirable in Polish, English and German.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and motivate teams across different cultures and regions.

Travel: Willingness to travel extensively, up to 50% of the time.
