Information Designer

The Information Designer will organize, translate, and simplify qualitative and quantitative data and information into compelling visuals for board presentations and leadership materials. Visual design deliverables will include storytelling presentations, data visualizations, and other high-impact materials. The Information Designer will be responsible for applying brand-compliant information, graphic, and visualization design best practices.

The Information Designer will work with cross-functional teams and partner closely with operational, technical, and business teams to develop visual concepts that drive decision-making and the design process forward. The Information Designer will collaborate extensively with stakeholders across Aon.

What the day will look like: 

  • Develop visual design deliverables in a range of formats, including storytelling presentations and data visualizations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to organize and simplify complex processes, challenges, data, and information into something partners can quickly grasp.
  • Create high-impact presentations using PowerPoint and Adobe Illustrator for board and leadership audiences.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft tools.
  • Work iteratively to arrive at project and design goals.
  • Bridge multiple perspectives to communicate and rationalize design decisions effectively.
  • Work independently and within various constraints to deliver within project timelines.
  • Champion design thinking approaches across the organization.
  • Analyze and present data through informative designs.
  • Gather information based on a client’s design requirements.
  • Research, brainstorm, and plan before creating a design.
  • Create and implement designs using different design tools.
  • Develop strategies that help meet client goals.
  • Work alongside a team of designers.
  • Deliver proofs to managers, editors, or clients.
  • Participate in usability testing to ensure designs meet goals and objectives.
  • Communicate information design strategies to the team.
  • Answer questions from users or your team throughout the design process.

Education:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant design field, such as information design, data journalism, or data visualization.

Skills and experience that will lead to success: 

  • Three (3) to Four (4) years of professional experience in information design, graphic design, or a related field, including experience journey mapping.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for data visualization and graphics production.
  • Skilled visual storyteller using PowerPoint.
  • Relentless optimism and curiosity to uncover better ways within complex systems.
  • Skill in deep listening, uncovering the often-unarticulated needs behind statements or assumptions.
  • Ability to make low-fidelity prototypes in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or other tools.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Communication and social skills to build trust and rapport with project partners.
