THE ROLE
As an Indirect Tax Manager, you will be part of the dynamic team based in Amsterdam, supported by Accenture BPO. The role involves reviewing and submitting VAT returns, managing compliance activities such as plastic tax, and ensuring timely submission across 32 VAT registrations across EMEA.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approval of VAT, Intrastat, ESL, LSPL reports provided by BPO.
- Investigate discrepancies and advise the processing team on resolutions.
- Ensure timely submission of VAT, ESL and Intrastat declarations in various tax jurisdictions.
- Maintain the due‑date tracker of obligations.
- Provide commentary to the quarter‑end variance analysis.
- Answer VAT‑related questions from colleagues across a range of departments.
- Assist with the preparation of 8th and 13th Directive claims.
- Verify that sales and purchase invoices are compliant for VAT purposes.
- Review and approve import reconciliation.
- Assist in the implementation of VAT reporting technology (automation).
- Prepare monthly short‑term liquidity forecast for VAT.
- Seek to initiate process improvements; establish cross‑functional teamwork.
- Coordinate tax payments.
- Prepare corrective returns.
- Assist with tax audit queries.
- Raise IT tickets to resolve master‑data/SAP issues.
- Review the reconciliations prepared by the BPO and suggest write‑offs for eliminated old items.
- Support with designing control checks for the VAT data.
- Assist with Fin 48 reporting / quarter‑end reporting.
- Run reports and provide input for the eco‑tax filings and inform third‑party providers.
- Create PO for compliance fees.
- Perform UAT testing for new tax design projects, legislative changes.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
We are looking for a candidate who is hands‑on, well organized, and systematic. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be a proactive self‑starter, and have a keen interest in automation.
Key Skills
- University degree in tax law, accountancy, or a related area.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in VAT compliance, preferably in an international environment.
- Experience in ERP systems, particularly SAP.
- Excellent Excel skills; Power BI is a plus.
- Fluent communication in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus.
- Energetic, driven, and proactive.
- A keen interest in automation.
