Join one of the worlds largest financial institutions as an IBM z Systems Programmer specializing in database management, particularly DB2. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing DB2 environments on IBM Z Systems. Your tasks will include ensuring that DB2 databases are highly available, secure, and perform efficiently.
responsibilities :
Upgrade, maintain, and optimize DB2 environments, including backups, restores, performance tuning, and software updates (e.g., DB2 V13/12, Broadcom/CA tools)
Build new DB2 subsystems or relocate existing ones as needed for projects
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production environments, including performance tuning and query optimization
Use REXX scripts for automation and manage software fixes and updates with tools like SMP/E
Implement access controls, monitor sensitive databases, and ensure compliance with security policies and regulations (e.g., GDPR)
Work with developers and cross-functional teams to optimize database usage, provide technical recommendations, and assist with problem resolution
Lead DB2 projects from planning through implementation and post-support phases
Create and maintain technical documentation, including configurations, disaster recovery plans, and best practices
Train and mentor team members to build skills in DB2 programming and system administration
Provide on-call support, ensure high availability of systems, and proactively address potential issues to maintain stable operations
requirements-expected :
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Several years as a systems programmer in an IBM z/OS environment with a focus on DB2
Strong knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, including installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting
Proficiency in SQL, JCL, REXX, and database automation/monitoring tools
Experience in database performance tuning and query optimization
Familiarity with DB2 utilities such as LOAD, REORG, and RUNSTATS, as well as backup strategies
Knowledge of SMP/E for software installation and maintenance
Analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively, lead initiatives, and mentor team members
Excellent verbal and written communication to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
