about-project :


  • Join one of the worlds largest financial institutions as an IBM z Systems Programmer specializing in database management, particularly DB2. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing DB2 environments on IBM Z Systems. Your tasks will include ensuring that DB2 databases are highly available, secure, and perform efficiently.

responsibilities :


  • Upgrade, maintain, and optimize DB2 environments, including backups, restores, performance tuning, and software updates (e.g., DB2 V13/12, Broadcom/CA tools)
  • Build new DB2 subsystems or relocate existing ones as needed for projects
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production environments, including performance tuning and query optimization
  • Use REXX scripts for automation and manage software fixes and updates with tools like SMP/E
  • Implement access controls, monitor sensitive databases, and ensure compliance with security policies and regulations (e.g., GDPR)
  • Work with developers and cross-functional teams to optimize database usage, provide technical recommendations, and assist with problem resolution
  • Lead DB2 projects from planning through implementation and post-support phases
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including configurations, disaster recovery plans, and best practices
  • Train and mentor team members to build skills in DB2 programming and system administration
  • Provide on-call support, ensure high availability of systems, and proactively address potential issues to maintain stable operations

requirements-expected :


  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Several years as a systems programmer in an IBM z/OS environment with a focus on DB2
  • Strong knowledge of DB2 for z/OS, including installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in SQL, JCL, REXX, and database automation/monitoring tools
  • Experience in database performance tuning and query optimization
  • Familiarity with DB2 utilities such as LOAD, REORG, and RUNSTATS, as well as backup strategies
  • Knowledge of SMP/E for software installation and maintenance
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively, lead initiatives, and mentor team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Residing in Poland required
