Job Description:
Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) is seeking a qualified Human Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) located in Bydgoszcz, Poland to conduct pre-deployment training activities for current theatres of operations and other exercises and training events (TEs) as assigned by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT). The Human Security SME provides expertise to develop, manage, and execute the critical role of Human Security within NATO exercises and wargames.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Be responsible for facilitating the continued development of all aspects of Grey Cell training delivery in accordance with the training requirements and the Commander’s intent.
- Be responsible for facilitating the integration of Grey Cell concept development and experiments into training and wargaming in cooperation with the Training Execution Enablement Division.
- Be responsible for developing, planning, preparing, and executing Grey Cell activities including Human Security equities in support of MDO wargaming and operational HQ’s training as well as any other activity developed, conducted or supported by JFTC.
- Be responsible for the coordination with relevant NATO, national entities and agencies, and non-military actors to ensure efficient and effective training and wargaming.
- Be responsible for cross-staff coordination and support on all aspects related to Human Security to include gender perspective in exercises, wargaming, and training including support to training needs analysis.
- Represent JFTC Grey Cell related equities during all relevant seminars, conferences, and events, as required.
- Serve as the Human Security Focal Point for JFTC by maintaining awareness on current NATO Human Security developments and political challenges for inclusion into the civil picture of exercises and wargaming.
- The duties listed above are intended only as general illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed by the Contractor.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in developing and maintaining networks with International Organisations, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations as well as with NATO Centres of Excellence and with the academic world.
- Experience and knowledge about the European networks and agencies dealing with Human Security issues.
- Proven ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including military, civilian, and humanitarian actors.
- Experience and understanding on the five NATO cross cutting themes.
- Experience working with or for humanitarian organisations and/or working as a liaison to the military on behalf of humanitarian organisations, or conversely.
- A Masters degree or higher in a relevant field such as international relations, human rights, conflict resolution, political science, law, security studies, or social sciences (other fields may be valid and will be studied case by case). If not, then a minimum of five years of experience in NATO Human security is required.
- Native English language speaker or individual presenting very good command of spoken and written English, with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET security clearance.
Travel: Travel may be required within and outside of NATO’s boundaries.
