Job Description

A dedicated Highways Maintenance Engineer is sought for a contract role within the Highways sector. This important position involves ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of highways in one of Londons busiest boroughs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and assessments of highways and related infrastructure
• Identify maintenance needs and prioritise repair works
• Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities, including repairs and resurfacing
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations
• Prepare reports and maintenance records for management review
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery
• Monitor and manage the budget for maintenance projects
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations and provide effective solutions

Job Requirements

• Experience in highways maintenance or a related field
• Strong understanding of maintenance techniques and best practices
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations relating to highways
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in reporting and documentation
• Effective communication and coordination skills
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
