Health and Safety Specialist

Your responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and monitors local or company occupational health and safety (OHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies. Develops and conducts OHS training, providing guidance and consultation on topics such as emergency response, hazardous material handling, industrial hygiene, life safety, health / wellness and ergonomics. Recommends and / or implements corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate hazards. Promotes awareness of OHS culture and programs through communication and collaborative team interaction.
• Performs a wide range of OHS activities with limited guidance.
• Leverages practical understanding of OHS and safe operating standards to review new engineering / product development facilities.
• Assists with review / improvement of facility operations and project development from an OHS perspective.
• Conducts staff / management OHS briefings as needed.
• Provides management and site teams with OHS metrics.
• Consults and advises management of occupational health and safety issues.
• Prepares accurate and up-to-date information used in incident analysis.
• Uses root cause analysis to determine incident trends and unsafe activities as well as provide documentation for regulatory agencies.
• Assists in the development, management and implementation of OHS programs for the site(s) including, but not limited to, emergency preparedness, contractor and operational safety.
• Participating in risk assessment tasks,
• Conducting occupational health and safety trainings for employees and processing related documentation.

Our requirements

• Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Communicative English (Written and spoken).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office,
• Good knowledge of H&S regulations,
• Strong communication and organization skills,
• Ability to increase commitment in teams and conduct training.
