Overview

Head of Transactional Accounting – East Europe will lead and oversee a team responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of all general accounting, accounts receivable, billing, and accounts payable functions across the region. The role ensures compliance with internal controls and company policies, accurate period reporting, and the effective execution of accounting processes. This position collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify needs, drive process improvements, and implement cost-efficient solutions through enhanced capabilities and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision for the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting functions and support the actions needed to achieve it, including deployment of new tools or business models like RPAs and centralized support.
  • Develop and implement new projects, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and controls for the function.
  • Coordinate the timely execution of monthly and quarterly accounting closing activities and supporting schedules in adherence to local and global guidelines.
  • Oversee and direct centralized relationships pertaining to AP, AR, General Accounting, and cash application.
  • Mentor the team with coaching, career development, and inter-departmental relationship management.
  • Enforce the organization’s accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Contribute as a finance subject matter expert on special projects.
  • Provide support during audit/close requests and during onboarding of new customers/partners.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • University Degree in Finance/Accounting with a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis; background in Finance, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain or Inventory Management is required.
  • 5+ years in finance/accounting leadership (AP, AR, general accounting, closing cycles).
  • Strong communication skills: clear, persuasive, and supportive.
  • Skilled in transformation, system integrations, and process optimization.
  • Fluent in English & Polish; French or Greek is a plus.
  • Nice to have: SAP, IFRS/GAAP, RPA/automation experience.
  • Insurance industry background is a plus.
  • Basic familiarity with available AI tools such as ChatGPT.
