We are partnering with a leading global financial institution to recruit a Head of Settlements – CFE for their Warsaw office. This senior leadership role oversees international settlements operations, ensuring operational risk is effectively managed and mitigated through robust controls and process improvements. The position maintains the integrity of global financial systems and drives operational excellence.
As Head of Settlements, you will lead a team that ensures timely and accurate settlement of financial transactions across multiple asset classes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee settlement operations for Equities, Bonds, FX, Prime, and Crypto asset classes.
- Ensure operational risk is managed through existing controls and implement new processes where required.
- Monitor trade date exceptions and elevate issues to senior management when necessary.
- Drive system and process improvements to reduce manual intervention and enhance efficiency.
- Implement cross‑training within the team to close knowledge gaps and build resilience.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth settlement processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Lead initiatives for automation, system integration, and operational enhancements.
- Provide oversight for reconciliation, payment processing, and dispute resolution.
- Deliver accurate reporting and support audits as required.
Ideal Candidate
- Extensive experience in settlements operations with strong product knowledge of Equities, Bonds, and FX.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop high‑performing teams.
- Strong understanding of operational risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive process improvements and implement automation solutions.
- Familiarity with settlement systems such as Phase3, STN, Intellimatch/Duco, Euroclear, Crest GUI, DTC, Fidessa, FXL, and crypto settlement platforms.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; experience with business intelligence tools is a plus.
