About the Role
Were seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering to lead our entire engineering organization and shape the technical direction of Reality Games. Youll oversee multiple engineering teams, drive architectural excellence, and ensure our platform scales globally while maintaining the quality and innovation our players expect. This is a strategic leadership role that combines hands-on technical expertise with organizational leadership. Youll work on-site in our iconic Kraków headquarters, collaborating closely with product, design, and analytics teams to deliver world-class gaming experiences.
You are an exceptional technical leader who:
• Possesses broad technical knowledge across full-stack engineering (backend, frontend, infrastructure, data systems)
• Has proven experience leading and scaling engineering organizations of 20+ engineers across multiple teams
• Demonstrates deep expertise in at least one or more domains relevant to our stack
• Shows architectural vision for complex, large-scale, globally distributed systems
• Is accountable for team and organizational performance, with ability to align teams toward business goals
• Leads by example in both technical decision-making and people leadership
• Encourages open, constructive debate and makes decisions with humility and transparency
• Listens actively and values diverse perspectives from all engineers
• Shares successes and failures openly to foster organizational learning
• Reacts with pragmatism and positivity to technical and organizational challenges
• Is passionate about engineering culture, mentorship, and developer experience
• Understands the value of experimentation, feedback loops, and incremental delivery
Your Technical Toolbox
You bring deep knowledge of:
• Backend services architecture — experience with Scala, REST APIs, microservices patterns
• Game backend systems — real-time data processing, player state management, multiplayer coordination
• Cloud infrastructure — Kubernetes, containerization, distributed systems at scale
• Data systems — data pipelines, big data processing, analytics infrastructure (familiarity with Kafka, BigQuery, or similar)
• Frontend & game development — understanding of Unity, iOS, Android game client architecture
• Databases — relational and NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, Couchbase)
• DevOps & automation — CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and observability
• Real-time systems — experience with geolocation data, live multiplayer systems, or similar low-latency requirements
Your Leadership Prole
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years in technical leadership roles (tech lead, engineering manager , or engineering director)
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Track record of shipping large-scale systems to production
• Hands-on experience with modern software development stacks
• Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical vision to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with agile/iterative development methodologies
• Commitment to engineering excellence, code quality, and operational reliability
