Overview
Head of Data Solutions in Operations at Sanoma Learning. Location: Poland (100% remote with occasional business travel). Contract Type: Permanent (umowa o pracę). Type: Full-time.
Role: This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data platform for internal analytics at Sanoma Learning. The role reports to the Head of Data and AI in Operations and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions enable business results. The role will manage a team of data engineers (including tech lead, Scrum Master, architect and potentially other roles).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data Solutions team in the Data and AI domain to develop a unified data platform that supports business needs.
- Manage analytical and data-related needs with flexible and compliant data solutions; facilitate the data solution development process (Scrum) and priorities.
- Develop and maintain a scalable data infrastructure for large-scale data collection, storage, and processing (current tool: Snowflake).
- Collaborate with central and local analytics, platform & architecture, operational stakeholders, product management, and other partners to ensure seamless integration and functionality of data solutions.
- Lead and develop the data engineering team to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality results; support the data engineering tech lead in building team competence.
- Facilitate the development and execution of the data-driven strategy, aligning with business objectives and future needs.
- Manage data tools (e.g., Snowflake, DBT) and engage with vendors and third parties in collaboration with procurement and TechOps.
- Oversee data governance at Sanoma Learning and support advancement of AI topics with appropriate data structures.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
Experience
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role overseeing data-related teams or platforms.
- Proven track record in delivering scalable data platforms using cloud-based solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, SAP Datasphere, Google BigQuery) and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and aligning technical solutions with business objectives.
- Familiarity with data engineering and analytics tools (DBT, Apache Airflow, ETL/ELT, SQL, Python).
- Experience establishing data governance, data privacy (GDPR), and data security standards.
- Background in agile project management and iterative development processes.
- Experience in vendor relationships and procurement related to data infrastructure and engineering services.
