Global Defense Engineering is responsible for fielding solutions that help defend HSBC against a wide range of threats to the business as well as its customers, clients, partners, and staff. The team works in concert, with partner teams across HSBC, to implement novel defensive capabilities that are effective and adaptable against a constantly evolving threat landscape. The function operates under the vision: “Enabling HSBC to be safely successful everywhere the firm chooses to do business". The Head of Cloud cryptography reports to the Head of cryptography.
responsibilities :
Own organisational knowledge of regulatory requirements in the cryptography space across the countries and territories that HSBC operates in.
Collaborate on maintaining effective technical control requirements to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and partner requirements.
Maintain awareness of changes to the cryptography landscape, understanding technical threats to safe use of cryptography.
Identify emerging threats and opportunities in the cryptography space and provide guidance to the business and key stakeholders.
Understand and lead implementation of improvements and weakness remediation.
Work with teams globally to ensure the development and implementation of tooling to support best in class cryptography solutions.
Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and risk management teams to align cryptography requirements with overall business aims and regulatory requirements.
Develop capabilities to manage cryptography incidents and remediation as well as provide regular accessible reports into developments in the area including presenting to senior management and stakeholders.
requirements-expected :
Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field. Directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree.
Demonstrated experience in information security, with a focus on cryptography.
Proven experience in interpreting regulatory requirements.
Experience with HSMs, cryptography key management, PKI, and cryptography remediation.
Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, algorithms, and protocols.
Experience with cloud-based cryptography solutions and integration with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Ability to explain complex cryptography concepts to stakeholders.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
