Responsibilities

Strategic Architecture Leadership

• Define and execute the long‑term technical architecture vision aligned with XTBs Technical Strategy supporting rapid business growth,
• Establish and govern architecture for global presence across Europe, Asia, and Latin America markets,
• Ensure architectural correctness for new product developments,
• Manage technical debt through systematic measurement, visualization, and reduction initiatives.

Architecture Governance & Standards

• Establish and chair the Architecture Review Board, implementing RFC/ADR processes across 200+ engineers,
• Define, communicate, and enforce architectural standards and golden paths for the entire engineering organization,
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (DORA, GDPR, UoNF) within frameworks set by Compliance and Governance teams,
• Drive adoption of recommended solutions and architectural patterns across product teams.

Team Development & Collaboration

• Mentor and develop a team of 3 architects and principal engineers, fostering a culture of architectural excellence,
• Collaborate closely with CTO, Directors, Engineering Managers, and Technical Leaders on strategic initiatives,
• Actively participate in technology guilds and Developer Experience initiatives,
• Build strong technical community through workshops, documentation, and internal communities of practice,
• Support Platform Engineering practices and developer‑centric culture across the organization.

Strategy Operationalization & Measurement

• Translate strategic goals into actionable quarterly objectives for technical teams,
• Define and monitor architecture‑related KPIs including Overall Technical Proficiency (1-6 scale), Technical Debt metrics, and Adoption rates,
• Prepare management dashboards and reports supporting data‑driven technology decisions,
• Manage portfolio of architectural initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities,
• Participate in quarterly planning cycles and strategic capacity planning.

Requirements

• Strong leadership skills with experience managing architecture teams and driving organizational change,
• Excellent communication skills capable of translating complex technical concepts into business language for stakeholders at all levels,
• 7+ years of experience in distributed systems architecture, including minimum 3 years in senior/lead architecture positions,
• Proven track record of successful architectural transformation in organizations with 200+ engineers,
• Deep technical expertise in microservices, event‑driven architecture, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and messaging systems (Kafka),
• Fintech or regulated industry experience with understanding of compliance, security, and audit requirements,
• Hands‑on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools (Grafana, OpenSearch),
• Data‑driven mindset with ability to define, track, and optimize architectural KPIs,
• Fluency in English and Polish (written and spoken).

Nice to have qualifications

• Experience scaling platforms serving millions of concurrent users in production,
• Knowledge of Platform Engineering methodologies and Team Topologies framework,
• Experience with AI/ML integration in enterprise platforms,
• Familiarity with technology stack: Java, gRPC, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, GitLab, ArgoCD, Rancher,
• Hands‑on experience with global deployments and multi‑region architectures,
• Practical knowledge of ITIL/ITSM frameworks,
• Professional certifications: AWS/Azure/GCP Solutions Architect Professional, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD),
• Background in financial services platforms, trading systems, or high‑frequency transaction processing.
