Define and maintain the Ground Segment Architecture for strategic satellite programs, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Oversee the design, development, and validation of ground segment infrastructure, including mission control, data processing, and communication systems.
Provide technical oversight and coordination of external suppliers and subcontractors responsible for ground segment development and integration.
Ensure compatibility and integration between space and ground segments, collaborating closely with systems engineers and mission operations teams.
Define and enforce standards and best practices for ground segment software, hardware, and interfaces.
Work with external ground segment infrastructure providers and understand the interface control documents (ICDs) for ground station integration, ensuring smooth interoperability and compliance with project specifications.
Define and procure network elements on the client’s side to support the deployment of the ground segment on-site, acting as a Technical Officer in procurement activities.
Participate in review cycles to validate and verify ground segment readiness, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Qualification Review (QR), On-Site Acceptance Test (OSAT), Operational Readiness Review (ORR), and Commissioning Readiness Review (CRR).
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including ESA and Polish space industry partners, to align ground segment development with mission objectives.
Contribute to risk management, ensuring mitigation strategies for potential ground segment challenges.
Support mission operations planning and the transition from development to operational phases.
Our requirements
Master’s degree in Space Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in ground segment architecture, systems engineering, or mission operations.
Strong knowledge of ground segment components, including mission control systems, ground stations, and data processing infrastructure.
Experience with ground segment standards and protocols, including ECSS, CCSDS, and network security principles.
Proven experience in managing external providers and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Familiarity with satellite operations and mission control software such as SCOS-2000, EGS-CC, or equivalent.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in risk management and system validation processes.
Excellent communication skills in English (Polish is a plus).
Experience working with ESA projects or other international space agencies.
