Global Supplier Development Engineer - Transformers (f/m/d)
Hitachi Energy is looking for a Global Supplier Development Engineer. This position can be filled anywhere in Europe where Hitachi Energy has a location.
How Youll Make An Impact
- Lead the supplier qualification process by conducting SAP Ariba assessments and executing global on‑site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability.
- Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements, fostering enhanced collaboration and quality outcomes.
- Oversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements for various critical to quality materials in Transformers Business unit.
- Monitor supplier performance indicators and drive the annual Supplier Performance Evaluation process to identify and address low‑performing suppliers.
- Develop and implement action plans for supplier performance recovery, working closely with suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Resolve escalated non‑conformities with suppliers by leading root cause analysis and ensuring proper implementation of corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level, reflecting lessons learned and promoting best practices across the business unit.
- Lead key SCM tool/system improvement projects within Supplier Quality and Development domain.
- Project lead for single/sole source elimination in critical global categories.
Your background
- Degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Production engineering or similar)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier development and supplier quality management
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data‑driven decisions
- Experience with transformer industry relevant materials and components production (e.g.: steel, copper, aluminum, insulation materials, chemicals raw materials, gaskets, transformer components) is a strong advantage
- Solid experience with production process assessment
- Solid experience with Quality and Continuous Improvement tools and processes (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis)
- Deep experience with APQP/PPAP, P‑FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control, and inspection process
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time‑management skills and a structured, proactive, self‑driven, and result‑oriented work approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with suppliers and cross‑functional teams effectively in an international environment
- Willingness to travel internationally to conduct supplier assessments and audits frequently
