Overview
Global Process Expert - General Accounting. Responsible for providing general accounting services to clients. Activities include cost accounting; journal entries preparation; cash flow; general ledger processing; reconciliations; reporting; and tax support. Ensures accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting/procedural standards of accounting records and financial statements. May generate financial statements and reports for internal and/or external use. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in the job area with advanced education and relevant work experience. Responsibilities typically include managing large projects or processes with limited oversight, coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals, and solving complex problems.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Reconciliation Tool Management: ensure the reconciliation tool is up to date in accordance with Group policy; controls fit for purpose and followed; process change requests promptly; create and maintain reconciliation schedules; update policy reports to reflect new incoming accounts; assign and deactivate accounts as necessary; monitor deadlines and overall reconciliation performance to ensure compliance and efficiency; prepare annual risk reviews for management approval.
- Task Closing Tool Management: ensure tool reflects the Group timetable, amendments enacted in a timely manner, Group controls adhered; open periods as required; monitor deadlines and performance; generate SLI 117 report; implement new finance applications and maintain existing tools; develop comprehensive test scenarios for new finance tools; create and manage project timetables coordinating with stakeholders; coordinate and organize User Acceptance Testing (UAT); prepare and deliver user training sessions and materials.
- Process Improvements and Collaboration: investigate, develop and deploy process improvements; collaborate with Information Services (IS) and vendors; liaise with IS teams and external vendors to manage issues, updates, system changes and project implementations.
- User Support and Quality Assurance: provide ongoing user support for system usage and change requests; maintain tool SOPs and WIS; conduct tool training; perform content quality checks and data analysis; ensure data accuracy and consistency across tools; confirm quarterly access approvals.
- Global General Accounting Team: participate as part of a small global team, collaborating with peers and other General Accounting teams as required; after an initial period, the role may encompass SAP S4 support and broader responsibilities; ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines; align with Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity.
Your Background
- Post graduation in Finance or MBA.
- 5 to 9 years of relevant experience.
- Meticulous, organized, able to direct tasks to successful conclusion.
- Attention to detail with the ability to resolve actions quickly.
- Self-starter with inquisitive nature and a proactive willingness to improve and streamline processes for efficiency.
- Sound knowledge of Trintech & Blackline 360, ideally at admin level (beneficial).
- Experience with SAP S4 General Accounting/Reporting modules to a high standard.
- Good working Microsoft skills.
- Ability to communicate and deliver solutions to colleagues globally.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
