Purpose

The Global Head of Lean, as part of the GPS & Smart manufacturing leadership team, is responsible for delivering business improvements through the GPS Lean Programme, supporting business strategy and GSC objectives by enhancing process effectiveness and embedding the GSK Production System. They lead and develop a high-performing team of experts, building GPS skills and achieving business results.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Benchmark industry programme content and performance to set operational ambitions and evolve the GPS production system accordingly.
  2. Maintain and improve GPS training materials.
  3. Create and implement a global GPS deployment plan aligned with GSC network needs.
  4. Define, develop, and deploy GPS Lean Capabilities and standards across sites and functions, ensuring autonomous deployment capabilities.
  5. Lead, motivate, and align a diverse team of GPS experts to ensure high performance.
  6. Enhance team capabilities to resolve operational and transactional business problems.
  7. Monitor GPS deployment quality through standardized processes.
  8. Promote GPS skills and behaviors via coaching, mentoring, and leading Kaizen events.
  9. Develop a scorecard to measure the delivery and impact of the GPS programme.
  10. Support prioritization of GPS programmes aligned with strategic goals.
  11. Leverage technology and digital tools to accelerate GPS initiatives.
  12. Collaborate with site and functional GPS teams to share best practices and innovate program elements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
  • 15+ years in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry, including manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and continuous improvement
  • 10+ years of management experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, influencing without formal authority
  • Strong leadership, scientific, and business acumen
  • Experience in strategy development and execution
  • Lean Master certification or equivalent
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional problem-solving efforts
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Vaccines or Biologics manufacturing, Operations, or Quality
