Role Overview:
As a Global Category Manager for IT & Services, you will be responsible for developing and executing the global procurement strategy for IT and related services. This role combines strategic category management with hands-on execution of sourcing initiatives, including tenders, negotiations, contract lifecycle management and stakeholder engagement across multiple regions and functions.
Category Scope:
- IT spend – approx. €30M (regional and group level, including personnel-related costs)
- Services spend – non-IT related (scope to be defined)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive category strategy for IT and Services:
- Map total spend across the group.
- Identify key suppliers, service scopes, contract coverage and lifecycle.
- Engage with stakeholders to define needs and assess risks.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives:
- Plan and execute RFPs aligned with category strategy.
- Prioritize based on 80/20 principles and risk exposure.
- Identify and act on quick-win opportunities.
- Manage IT Capex pipeline:
- Oversee and control capital investment planning and execution.
- Drive major procurement projects:
- Lead outsourcing of IT services (€7–10M scope).
- Select integration partner for global ERP implementation.
- Co-develop business cases for outsourcing with stakeholders.
- Stakeholder collaboration:
- Work closely with Procurement, IT, Finance (local and central), HR and Operations teams.
- Ensure alignment with internal policies and strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics category management (transportation, warehousing) or similar Supply Chain Management roles.
- Proven experience in IT procurement, including sourcing of software, SaaS and IT consulting services.
- Strong understanding of IT contracting and vendor management.
- Familiarity with software agreements and licensing terms (e.g., ISG, consulting, software services)
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, including from a legal perspective
- Experience leading international tenders and managing supplier relationships.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across global functions.
- Excellent negotiation, delegation and project management skills.
- Strong team player and motivator.
- Degree in business, engineering, or mechanical fields (equivalent experience also considered).
