Job Purpose
As a Global Category Buyer – CAPEX, you will lead strategic and tactical procurement activities across assigned subcategories within the Capex domain, supporting Johnson Matthey’s global manufacturing footprint. This high‑impact role combines technical expertise, supplier management, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive innovation, cost savings, and operational excellence.
Role
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for Capex subcategories, translating them into actionable plans with cross‑functional teams.
- Leverage market intelligence, cost analysis, and risk assessments to support procurement decisions and drive innovation across the value chain.
- Identify, qualify, and onboard suppliers to improve cost efficiency, quality, and service levels.
- Negotiate global framework agreements and manage supplier contracts in line with company standards.
- Build and oversee supplier relationship programs, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement with operational needs, support CAPEX projects, and contribute to budget planning and cost control.
- Drive cost‑saving initiatives, apply best practices in supplier risk management and contract negotiation, and utilize procurement systems to enhance efficiency and reporting.
Key Skills
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in industrial or capital project environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (MCIPS certification is a plus).
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial equipment, system installations (mechanical, electrical, automation), and engineering materials.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and lead complex contract negotiations across technical, commercial, and legal areas.
- Experience with cost breakdown structures, technical RFQs, and MRO procurement within capital investment projects.
- Proficiency in procurement systems (SAP, Coupa) and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluent English and flexibility to travel.
