We are looking for a skilled and experienced General Ledger Accountant to join the finance team of our client — a prominent player in the food industry with a well‑established presence across the EMEA region.

This role is dedicated to the German market, so a minimum B1 level of German is required. Additionally, knowledge of fixed assets management is essential. The ideal candidate will bring solid accounting experience, SAP proficiency, and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of tasks to support smooth and error‑free month‑end (MEC), quarter‑end (QEC), and year‑end closings for the assigned region
  • Apply advanced knowledge of accounting processes, systems, and tools in daily operations
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and group policies
  • Take proactive actions to resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Contribute to project activities supporting the development of the newly established BSC organization
  • Facilitate effective task transitions, knowledge transfer, and process documentation
  • Collaborate closely with business units, local entities, and headquarters to provide analysis for decision‑making
  • Resolve complex queries and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders
  • Actively participate in transition and process improvement projects

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Strong expertise in GL processes, with solid knowledge of accounting, finance, and controlling
  • Proficiency in SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA (experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation is a strong asset)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in a Shared Services environment, including process transformation and project management
  • Familiarity with US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting regulations
  • Experience in accounting or audit in an independent role
  • Process improvement mindset and automation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure and in a team
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities
  • Knowledge of fixed assets management is essential.
  • Fluent in English, German at minimum B1 level
