For one of our clients, a leading company in the food industry with a strong presence across the EMEA region, we are looking for a highly skilled General Ledger Specialist (GL Accountant).
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute assigned tasks effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth and accurate closing of books and reporting at month-end (MEC), quarter-end (QEC), and especially year-end for the designated region, leveraging advanced knowledge of processes, systems, and tools.
- Manage and coordinate support for internal and external audits, as well as provide operational assistance during audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and group policies, taking appropriate actions to resolve any issues.
- Participate in project activities to support the successful development of the newly established BSC organization (including task transition, knowledge transfer, and process documentation).
- Collaborate with business units/countries and headquarters to provide necessary analyses for decision-making processes.
- Resolve complex issues and inquiries comprehensively, with a strong focus on country-specific needs.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Engage in projects and actively support transition initiatives.
- Cooperate and troubleshoot with other financial organizations.
Requirements:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in accounting and/or finance.
- Extensive experience in GL processes, with solid knowledge of accounting, finance, and controlling.
- Proficiency in SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA (experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation is a strong asset).
- Good practical knowledge of Excel.
- Professional experience in a Shared Service environment (process and tool transformation, project management).
- Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting regulations.
- Previous experience in accounting or audit in an independent role.
- Process improvement and automation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and under time pressure.
- Strong analytical thinking.
- Outstanding negotiation, communication, and consulting skills.
